California Institute of Technology Admissions to Caltech graduate program is granted to students with superior abilities. The admission process takes place once in a year and only a few students are enrolled in the institution.
Students are encouraged to submit their application for consideration as early as possible and ensure all other requirements submitted on time. The admission officers only view your application once all credentials and test scores have been submitted.
Caltech Requirements for Admission
California Institute of Technology is one of the competitive schools in California with an admission rate of 9%. Candidate must build a strong application to get an admission into Caltech
- GPA score
You should be able to demonstrate high academic qualifications with an average GPA of 4.24 by taking AP and IB classes.
- Testing score
You should aim to get an average of 1560 SAT score and 35 Act score for you to be competitive. You should also take SAT and ACT writing essays to improve your score.
- Application requirements
In addition to academic excellence, you need to write a unique application essay, have stellar extracurricular performance and a letter of recommendation.
Having excellent academic qualifications is not a guarantee that you will be accepted into the institution. You need also to demonstrate your abilities in other areas of interest and be able to stand out among other applicants.
How much does it cost to go to Caltech
The total estimated cost for pursuing 2018-19 undergraduate academic year is $72,084 with an exception of orientation fee and direct charges.

Undergraduate students are charged orientation fee of $500. The cost of Health Insurance Plan will be communicated by June 2018 (the plan cost is $2,463 of 2017/18 academic year).
The housing allowance is calculated based on weighted average of all undergraduate students on campus housing plan.
Travel cost allowance will be added to the estimated cost of attendance based on students’ primary residence.

Scholarship/ Financial services
Financial aid is available to the needy students to help cover the cost of attending Caltech institute. The financial services provided is in form of grants and scholarships. These scholarships are given based on the demonstrated financial needs.
After filling out financial aid form you can receive three types of financial aid;
- Grants and scholarship based on your financial needs
- Work-study allotment money for working on the campus or in another institution.
- Loan provision which is payable after school.

March 15: Notification for Regular Decision admission

December 15: Notification of Early Action decision.
