All About Anna University is the technical university in Tamil Nadu; it was established on September 4^th, 1978 as a unitary type of university, the main university campus is situated in Guindy, Chennai. It was named after C.N. Annadurai, earlier- Chief Ministry of Tamil Nadu.

It provides Higher education in Technology, Architecture and Engineering also applied Sciences relevant to the current as well as project needs of the society. The university produces by bringing together and incorporating four famous technical institutions in the city of Madras (now Chennai) like,

College of Engineering (CEG) established in 1794
Alagappa College of Technology (ACT) established in 1944
Madras Institute of Technology (MIT) established in 1949
School of Architecture & Planning (SAP) established in 1957

The university afflicted in 2001, captivating all engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu also again reconverted to the unitary type in 2010. In 2012, Anna University

The university again converted to an affiliating type of university by bringing together all the Engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu, all together to ensure uniform quality in engineering education.

Presently, Anna University has 13 constituent Colleges, 3 Regional Campus at Tirunelveli, Madurai and Coimbatore and 593 Affiliated Colleges of Government supported, Government and self – financing colleges

Academics:

The university provides different courses in engineering and technology by its affiliated colleges and follows a dual semester system; university conducts examination every year in semesters from May – June and from November – December (old semester). Anna University scored 6th position in MHRD University ranking in the year 2017.

Here’s Admissions process at Anna University:

There will a basic entrance test called Tamil Nadu Professional Courses Entrance Examination (TNPC EE) for admission to professional courses in the state till 2006. From 2007 – 2008, engineering admissions have done based on students higher secondary marks as well as post Graduation admission process. Also, admission process carry out through TNPC EE(Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission)

Anna University rank 651 – 7000 internationally, in the QS World University Rankings of 2017 -2018, the same institute ranked 251 – 300 in Asia and 151 – 200 among BRICS nations in 2016.

In 2017, careers360 ranked it in 14 and 13 overall by the National Institutional Ranking Framework in 2017.

TV and Satellite:

ISRO accepted Anna University to commence a separate TV channel; the university launched Tamil Nadu’s first interactive Satellite Terminal on the Ku Band of EDUSAT.

Anusat is the first satellite developed as well as designed through an Indian university. Also, it is the first satellite in India to operate and built by any other organization other than ISRO.

On 20 April 2009, aboard PSLV – C12, the satellite’s design, develop also supported by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
